INSUFFERANCEIVABLE POPOCCCCATEPETL - NO ANIMALS 7EVENTH GALLERRY EXHIBITION OPENING PERFORMANCE

INSUFFERANCEIVABLE was a performance opening the exhibition POPOCCCCATEPETL - NO ANIMALS at 7EVENTH GALLERY. Featuring artists Christine Small, Carrie McGrath and Caleb Shea, INSUFFERANCEIVABLE responded to the sycophants, dilettantes and philistines we all become within the formalism of the myopic art-world.

The exhibition was a collaboration in willing to exhibit together, have our individual works respond to each of our aesthetic choices informing placement within the gallery space and the filming of a video for projection on Gertrude Street Collingwood.

If you search for tenderness it isn't hard to find.

You can have the love you need to live.

But if you look for truthfulness, you might just as well be blind.

It always seems to be so hard to give.

I can always find someone to say they sympathize.

If I wear my heart out on my sleeve.

But I don't want some pretty face to tell me pretty lies.

All I want is someone to believe.

I can find a lover.

I can find a friend.

I can have security until the bitter end.

Anyone can comfort me with promises again.

I know.

I KNOW.

WOE.

When I'm deep inside of me, don't be too concerned.

I'll ask for nothing while I'm gone.

But when I want sincerity, tell me where else can I turn.

Because your your the one that I depend upon.

Honesty is such a lonely word.

Everyone is so untrue.

Honesty is hardly ever heard.

And mostly what I need from you.

.oO0Oo. (SPECIAL DELIVERANCE) PERFORMANCE FOR GREATER THAN ONE EXHIBITION AT MONASH UNIVERSITY ART AND DESIGN FACULTY GALLERY

The Greater Than One Exhibition at Monash University Art and Design Faculty Gallery Caufield Campus was curated by Alicia Renew.

PoPoCaTePTL and ROARAWAR FEARTATA as a collective CCC Inc. worked with the measurement guideline of “greater than one metre”. We explored the possibilities of restrictive space measurements via performance and the sculptural installation genre whilst questioning the necessity of such exhibition briefs. Responding to the desires of art gallery curators, measured concepts or notions of measurement, our whimsical performative provocations addressed thematics oscillating around ‘conceptual voids’, the ephemeral and the subject as an autonomous Being.

When is a measurement a gift?

MEDIUM Mixed media found objects. (Pine wood pine, cardboard cladding, black curtained material, fluorescent light, mirror, charcoal. lubricant and dust) with performances.

DIMENSIONS 1m x 1m x 2m

The object's immersive and claustrophobic signifierness references the cave (Lascaux or Plato), monolithic structures, cardboard architecture and cubby-houses, the ubiquitous cardboard box in art, light art, life or Being's existence as dust, the universe as a god's cum-rag (no thing is to be explicitly offensive), the enigmatic mystery of art itself, the package, parcel and the gift of all these things amongst other things.

Cultivated within an aesthetic antagonism, our ideational gestations contemplated the implementation of a literal surveying of the ‘nature of contemporary culture’ at Monash University Art and Design Faculty’s Caufield Campus in relation to a broad, general scope. Plinths and functionality or utilitarian sculptural means were also tropes we considered.

Others were Invited to interact or engage in intimate enactments. A couple of people cried tears. Some gag or pose. Photo. Image. Self as cultural spectacle. Others emphatically deny i am there. Was i? Aversion. Averting my existence. Monash University Art Design Faculty Caufield campus security concern themselves with some others as to the state of my well-being. Cop call. And i explain. Barely clad in nothing more. Stained "female" underwear -assumed to be "y-fronts" - and my mouth froths foamy white viscous and sticky lubricant with saliva spittle, salty sweat and dehydration. Wearing high-heel pumps.

Playing with risk and failure, pathos and bathos, we desire an ascent in an approach towards the Sublime and then freefall, descending into the ridiculous, reflexively contemplating the mediations of our respective mediums all the while wondering and questioning why bother doing what we are doing, and for what purpose and what it is and what is it all for. What is this thing, conceptually – art – its notions of what it was, is, has become, is becoming and, or will be.

...THE PROBLEM WAS HOW TO GIVE "JOYOUS REPULSION"...DISGUST PEOPLE JOYOUSLY IN AN AFFIRMATIVE WAY...provocatively...not offensively...LIFE-AFFIRMING AND JOYOUS ABJECTION...PLAYING WITH GENDERED IDENTITIES, (IM)PURE SEXUALITY AND INTIMACY...INSTANT INTIMATE MOMENTS WITHIN A RECIPROCITY OF THE GAZE AND SELF AS SPECTACLE...THE BODY AS MEDIUM...CORPOREALITY IS INSTRUMENTAL...THE ABSURDITY OF fARTAUD...AND HOW OTHERS BELIEVE THAT WHAT THEY DO HAS MEANING FOR OTHERS...

CITYMEN OF MELBOURNE FOR PUBLIC ASSEMBLY'S LYNDA ROBERTS' INTERVENTIONIST GUIDE CURATION EXHIBITED AT PLATFORM GALLERY DEGREAVES STREET

Do you belong here?
Do you feel safe?
What's the weather going to be like tomorrow?
Do you remember me?
Have I got everything I need?
Do you need anything?
Can I get you something?
Do you believe in magic?
How much longer do I have?
Is it for a good cause?
Where do I pay?
Where do I go?
Are the ice-caps really melting?
What happens in the end?
Which way does it go?
Are you listening?
When shall we meet?
Can I ask you a question?
What does it feel like?
Does it hurt?
What are my chances?
Do you have a moment?
What time is it?
Where is the bathroom?
Is there anything left?
Can we make a difference?
What's the difference?
What difference does it make?
Have I changed?
When will it all end?
Have you done something with your hair?
Will you be here when I get back?
When will you know?
How would I know?
Are you lost?
Do I deserve this?
Is there something out there?
How will you explain all this?
Where have you been?
Why should I ?
What do you recommend?
How will I go on?
Does it work?
What else will work?
What can I say?
How will I look when I am old?
Who you gonna call?
What just happened?
Can I rely on you?
Have I forgotten something?
Do you trust me?
Do you love me?
WHat does this button do?
Can you hear me?
Is there another way out?
What's that sound?
How could you?
